Third week of the semester

I'm having a hard time remembering what happened this week. Monday, Ashlee and I met with Dr. Yaquinto who teaches communication. We discussed with her our advertising project and gave us a few ideas. We want to make a website that encompasses what our class is doing in Panama. I have no idea how to design a web site so that will be a new adventure.

We have had a lot of readings this week but, to me, it hasn't been too bad. For my JINS class last spring, we had readings that were 100 pages assigned Tuesday and to be read on Thursday so I'm not shocked by the amount since that JINS course was far worse. My paper over the readings, I will be the first to admit, was not brilliant. I am one of those people who likes to take my time when I write because I like to think about what I'm going to write beforehand and 48 hours is not long enough for me to write anything great.

Of course, my focus this week was the MCAT which I finished taking at 12:35 today. I'm not thrilled with it at the moment. Verbal was way harder than it should have been and the passages were all at the max length. It was ridiculus. For the last passage I had 4:34 minutes to read and answer 5 questions. For my practice tests, I always end up with 13 extra minutes at the end so it definatly didn't go as planned. If anything is going to make me have to take it a second time, it will be because of verbal. Unless a lot of people did crappy, I highly doubt the wieghted score will help me. I think biology/organic chem section went well and physics/gen chem is up in the air. But i don't have to worry about it for a while since I won't get my score for a month.

History class is interesting. I have studied a little bit about South America but I never knew what happened specifically. For biology, we will be working on out our proposal this Sunday. Today my group went to the Botanical gardens in St.Louis so I'm excited to hear about all they learned!!

Second week of the semester

Another week has gone by, and we have finished the identity charts finally. I have always found it interesting of how people see themselves and more importantly, why they identify themseleves with certain characteristics. I love pyschology. But I have to say how odd I think it is that so many people love Missouri. I guess I've been wanting to leave this state for so long, I've forgotten that others might actually like here. Now we are presentating our discplines which are surprisingly interesting.

My service learning project will be to help in advertising the La Mica research station which will be interesting process for me because I never done anything in advertising before and I am interested in learning the process.

Overall, the stress is building. The MCAT is in exactly a week and I have a lot of stuff to accomplished this upcoming week along with last minute preparation for the MCAT. Can't wait til it's over!

First week for semster

So I'm really excited to go to Panama! Can't wait to get rid of the most annoying roommate on the face of this planet. (Just kidding Krystal)

Anyways I now know what my scheldule is for the semester. I have classes on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with Monday and Friday's off which at the moment are devoted to MCAT studying for the next two weeks. Can't wait to get that test over with.

My projects during this semester will be to follow a Shaman and see what plants he uses for as medicines. My group and I will try to identify as many of the plants as we can and record his receipes, and how he adminsters what he makes. Hopefully, we can be able to bring back samples and try to identify compounds that might affect the body for healing purposes. I'm very excited about this project.
